I first met these guys at a fundraising dance party in Cambridge, MA. I was in awe, because they played the music just like I heard in the mid 50’s when I was a teenager. They had the Sun Record sound down to almost perfection. I knew I wanted to record them and put them on my label, so I went to see them perform a couple more times around the Boston area, and that’s all it took. We shook hands and the deal was made. Vic had the Jerry Lee Lewis sound down, John had the Elvis part going, andRink’s guitar was as close to Scotty Moore as I ever heard. Ray’s guitar playing was fantastic and Chuck on the drums completed the whole thing. They played rockabilly like rockabilly should be played - simple and without fillers. Through the years, they’ve had other musicians come in and out of the band and right now, Vic and Ray still front the band simply called Boston Rockabilly. Rink passed away, John still plays around the Boston area, and Chuck is still doing well. We all still keep in contact, and they are still great guys.
